Win a Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender is the world’s most iconic 4x4. The original first appeared in 1948 and, in the 70-plus years since, it has explored the world, become a mainstay of the British countryside, and even been used by the British Royal Family. Now, reborn for the 21st century, the all-new Defender mixes modern Land Rover luxury with go-anywhere ability in a design that pays homage to its legendary ancestors.

For your chance to win this special and supremely capable SUV, and a luxury countryside retreat worth £3,500,000, with £100,000 in cash to help you settle in, enter the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Cotswolds by Sunday 14th May.

Hero LRD

The much-loved Land Rover Defender has been completely remade for the 21st century. And this achingly cool, three-door, ‘90’ model in X-Dynamic SE spec takes design cues from its iconic Defender ancestors—from the square lights via the distinctive silhouette, to the side-hinged tailgate and full-size spare wheel.

This particular model is resplendent in Santorini Black, and features matching black roof rails, Satin Dark Grey 20-inch wheels, rear privacy glass and a sliding panoramic roof. Under the clamshell bonnet (another Defender design cue) is a powerful twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel engine, with 249PS and 570Nm, which drives all four wheels via an automatic gearbox.

Land Rover Defender

Land Rovers – and especially Defenders – have always been built to go anywhere and do anything, and the new one is more capable than ever before, thanks to all-wheel drive, all-season tyres, and cutting-edge off-road tech.

There’s a special low-range mode for the gearbox when you’re off the beaten path, plus Hill Descent Control, Hill Launch Assist, and Wade Sensing that allows you to ford water up to 850mm deep. A Terrain Response controller optimises the Defender for any surface, from the Comfort setting to cruise along in, via Sand and Mud Ruts, right through to a Rock Crawl setting; meaning that weekend escape to the country will feel like a doddle.

Land Rover Defender All Weather

Despite its origins, the new Defender is no longer a farming vehicle. It’s cosseting and comfortable, incredibly refined on the motorway, and the luxuriously appointed interior is a world away from the 1948 original.

‘Puddle’ lights in the door mirrors illuminate the way as you approach. Keyless entry and start means you needn’t reach into your pocket. And inside you’ll find 12-way heated, electric and memory front seats, as well as a Meridian™ Sound System. The 10-inch central touchscreen features Land Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment tech, alongside  Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® connectivity. In other words: you’ll keep your four passengers happy for long and short journeys alike.

Interior tech

Yet, above and beyond all of the above, the Defender’s standout feature might just be how it makes you feel. You sit high, able to see over hedgerows and across the rolling hills of the British countryside. You feel imperious and, from this vantage point, you can see the beauty of our green and pleasant land.

Better yet, the upright and squared-off Defender design means it’s easy to place on the road (or off it) and easy to see out of. A 3D Surround Camera and 360-degree parking aid make manoeuvring a breeze, and it’s also packed with the latest driver assistance tech, including Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Cruise Control, Rear Traffic Monitor and Traffic Sign Recognition.
