How Will Marie Curie Use the Money?

Entering the Cornwall House Draw doesn’t just mean you’re in with the chance of winning an outstanding Waterfront House in Cornwall worth £4,500,000 and £100,000 in cash, it also means you’ll be helping Marie Curie to provide care and support to people affected by terminal illness.
Marie Curie in Action 1

Founded in 1948, Marie Curie takes its name from a decorated scientist. Now, nearly 90 years after her passing, Marie Curie’s work continues to inspire the charity's mission: to help people and their families living with a terminal illness make the most of the time they have together by delivering expert care, emotional support and research.

To achieve that mission and support the more than 45,000 people affected by terminal illness each year, Marie Curie relies on donations; donations just like those we hope to raise through this incredible partnership.

The charity will use the money that our wonderful Omaze Community raises in various ways. And here’s exactly how your entry into the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Cornwall, can have a direct impact on those in need:

  • £100k could sponsor their Palliative Care Knowledge Zone for just over 6 months, so healthcare professionals can quickly and easily find the information they need.

Marie Curie in Action 2

  • £250k could fund 12,500 hours of expert nursing care and emotional support to families living with terminal illness

  • £500k could fund the Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Department at Cardiff for just over 10 months, meaning it can continue to research the best care for people living with a terminal illness.

Marie Curie in Action 3

  • £750k could fund 37,000 hours of expert nursing care and emotional support to families living with terminal illness

  • £1,000,000 could fund 50 Marie Curie community nurses, to support families in communities living with terminal illness. It will mean over 950 families will be supported, providing expert care and emotional support at a time when they need it most.

Marie Curie in Action 4Partnering with Omaze for the first time, Matthew Reed, Chief Executive Officer for Marie Curie said, “Every five minutes, someone in the UK dies without the care and support they need. This is heart-breaking for each person this happens to, and for the people who love them. At Marie Curie we strive to improve quality of life for dying people whilst ensuring that emotional support is available to their loved ones, too. We are delighted that Omaze shares our belief that everyone deserves the best experience possible at the end of life and has chosen to partner with us. This partnership will raise important funds and awareness so that Marie Curie can be there for more people with a terminal illness.
