Thanks to the £4,000,000 raised by our incredible Omaze Community, the London's Air Ambulance Charity has now replaced two life-saving helicopters. Charity patron, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, joined in celebrating the new aircraft’s operational duties, along with supporter David Beckham.
The London House Draw partnership raised the single largest donation of their £16,000,000 ‘Up Against Time’ appeal to fund two essential new air ambulances and pushed the campaign over the finish line.
Omaze CEO, Matt Pohlson, and London’s Air Ambulance Charity CEO, Jonathan Jenkins, personally thank the Omaze Community for raising this staggering sum towards the pair of Airbus H135 helicopters. The charity’s new fleet will allow it to keep flying to the side of critically injured Londoners around the clock, 365 days a year—a subject close to Matt’s heart, after an internal rupture left him in critical condition in 2018.
He said, “Everyone at Omaze is delighted that our community raised an incredible £4 million to help London’s Air Ambulance Charity achieve its target for the new helicopters.
“I’m only alive because a heroic ambulance driver and medics got to me in the nick of time. So I’m also personally so grateful we can support London's Air Ambulance Charity in providing their life-saving service to Londoners.”
Jonathan went on to thank all those in the capital who helped the charity beat their target, giving a special mention to Omaze for their transformational contribution.
He said: “The arrival of our new Airbus helicopters is truly momentous for our charity.
“This incredible milestone could not have been achieved without the unwavering support of our donors, communities and businesses across London.
“Special thanks in particular has to go to Airbus for the successful delivery of our fantastic new aircraft, as well as Omaze and the London Freemasons as the two largest contributors to the appeal total.
"The £16 million raised has allowed us to invest in these two state-of-the-art helicopters, ensuring we can continue to reach critically injured patients swiftly, and provide life-saving care when every second counts. London, thank you for standing by us.”
The Prince of Wales, patron of London's Air Ambulance Charity, visited RAF Northolt where he met with medical and pilot crews, as well as Airbus engineers responsible for designing and developing the helicopters.
The London House Draw also saw school teacher Hillary McManus, from Nottingham, win a life-changing Luxury House in London, worth over £5,000,000, along with £250,000 in cash.
