Show Your Heart Some Love

Let’s face it, our hearts are pretty important. That’s why we’ve partnered up with the British Heart Foundation for the Bath House Draw, to help keep hearts beating in communities across the UK.

Often these incredible vital organs do such a brilliant job, we forget all about them. So, make this year the one to show your heart some love, with British Heart Foundation Ambassadors S Club. The bandmates joined forces with British Heart Foundation, after losing their brother, Paul, to an undiagnosed heart condition in 2023.

The platinum-selling stars caught up with Cardiac Nurse Emily McGrath for her advice on how to keep your ticker tickety-boo and here’s what she had to say:

Reach for healthy food

Jon: What are the most important dietary changes we can make to improve our heart health?”

Emily: Choosing more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, while avoiding salty and sugary treats, and swapping saturated fats for unsaturated fats, can help keep blood pressure and cholesterol levels in check and maintain a healthy weight.

Don’t Stop Movin’

Bradley: We know as well as eating well, staying active is important too. What easy activities can we do on a daily basis to improve heart health?

Emily: Any increase in activity levels is beneficial for heart health. Aim for 150 mins of moderate intensity exercise (like walking) per week in a way that is achievable for you.

Find the Natural way to relax:

Rachel: Can stress have an impact on our heart health?

Emily: Chronic stress can lead to unhealthy habits that are bad for our heart health so recognising and managing stress is important to keeping your heart healthy.

Say Goodbye to cigarettes

Tina: We know smoking is not generally good for our health. How much does it have an impact on our Heart Health?

Emily: Smoking is one of the leading causes of heart disease and premature death. If you smoke, seek support to quit and improve your heart health.

Have You Ever monitored your health?:

Jo: Is it easy to monitor our heart health at home?

Emily: Know what is normal for you - like your blood pressure, and think about your lifestyle. Early detection can manage risk factors before they progress.

Bring it All Back to bed:

Tina: Are there any more tips you can give us to help improve our heart health?

Emily: Sleep plays a crucial role in heart health. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to help your body repair and maintain cardiovascular function.

So, there you have it - all the ways to love your heart back this New Year and beyond.

The Bath House Draw

And when you enter The Bath House Draw you’ll be supporting British Heart Foundation to ensure more public access defibrillators are available across the UK.

When someone is in cardiac arrest, time is of the essence and early CPR and rapid access to a defibrillator can more than double the chances of survival. The Circuit helps 999 call handlers direct bystanders to the nearest defibrillator in an emergency.

Together, we can place more defibrillators, expand The Circuit, and keep more hearts beating in communities across the UK.

And you might also win the keys to this Elegant House in Bath, worth over £4,000,000, along with £250,000 to help you settle in.

It’s win:win. So, why wait?
