Welcome Home to the Wirral

Like a movie star handprint stamped in Walk of Fame cement, this Stylish House on the Wirral, is set into lush lawns on Caldy’s most enviable road, with a prestigious postcode to match. This striking homage to mid-century modern architecture shines like a star high above the Wirral’s sandy coastline, with all the timeless charm of Hollywood’s Golden Era. From your private, gated drive, stroll to unspoilt beaches and acres of acres of National Trust woodland; this is luxury living among show-stopping natural beauty where inside and out are in perfect harmony.

Tranquil and picturesque Caldy is a favourite with Premier League footballers and celebrities seeking refined living with privacy. The village’s centre is a chocolate box of sandstone, brick and timber-frame buildings, many of them listed and some dating back to the 17th century. The bright lights of Liverpool city centre are just half an hour away by car, or by train from the neighbouring village of West Kirby. The historic city of Chester is also around forty minute’s drive to the south east, while Liverpool John Lennon Airport is under an hour’s drive away.

Step straight into the oak, silver birch and bracken of National Trust woodland and climb Caldy Hill, a heathland peak within Stapledon Woods. The Wirral’s highest point boasts a superb panorama of the Dee Estuary to Hilbre Island, with its resident colony of seals, and across the Irish Sea. On a clear day, your efforts may even be rewarded with views of the mountains of Snowdonia to the west, the Pennines to the east, and even the Lake District to the north. From here explore miles of peaceful trails among mature trees, as the seasons come and go high above and underfoot.

Sandy Caldy Beach lies just a few minute’s to the west, from which you can walk or cycle along the Wirral Way; a bridlepath trail created along the picturesque trackbed of the old Wirral Railway. Head north to West Kirby where Wirral Watersports Centre runs paddle boarding, sailing and windsurfing courses on the town’s Marine Lake, or to the town’s farmers market or lauded ice cream parlour. Continue to Red Rocks Nature Reserve, a sand dune and reedbed conservation area, where rare wildlife and birds thrive in marram grass, alder and willow trees.

Follow the Wirral Way south to Thurstason Beach, a hidden sand and shingle beach at the base of clay cliffs for a leisurely beachcomb, where grassy dunes and salt marshes give way to the Wirral Country Park.  If green fairways and sandy bunkers are your thing, tee off at any of the Wirral’s many golf clubs, because this grassy peninsula has more courses per capita than anywhere in the UK. Journey across the Mersey to Tate Liverpool at Albert Docks, shopping at Harvey Nichols, or, come nightfall, explore the city’s celebrated, independent bars and eateries.
