The future of the high-performance super-saloon is here, in the guise of this Porsche Taycan. This svelte saloon is Porsche’s first electric vehicle, and the pinnacle of its engineering genius. It drives like a sports car, but just happens to have five seats, four doors and two boots. Better yet, the ultra-modern exterior clothes cutting-edge EV tech and a luxurious yet innovative interior.
Fancy getting your hands one? One with over £25k of optional extras? Well, for your chance to win a Stunning House in Cornwall and this fantastic Porsche, enter the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Cornwall, by Sunday 10th March.
The Taycan is Porsche’s first electric car and offers up typically peerless Porsche performance, as well as practicality. If performance is first and foremost in your mind, the Porsche Taycan delivers that and then some. With four-wheel drive, and a Launch Control system that unlocks the full 530PS and 640Nm of torque, it’ll reach 0-62mph in four seconds flat. That, and it really does drive like one of Porsche’s sports cars.
Or, if practicality is your thing, think five seats, four doors, and two boots. Yes, two, for as well as the hatchback boot there’s also a ‘frunk’ up front. Which means you can slink around serenely, with family or friends onboard, in the hushed silence that only an electric vehicle can deliver.
However you choose to drive, you’ll look good doing it, because as befits a cutting-edge EV, the design is ultra-modern. This sleek saloon is also resplendent in stunning Crayon paint, an option worth nearly £2k.
We’ve made a few other additions too, including the special SportDesign exterior package that comes from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the bespoke arm of the company. Worth nearly £4k, it features special front bodywork, side skirts, and an enlarged rear diffuser in high-gloss black.
Another Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur option are the wheels. Upgraded to 21-inches, and with a two-tone finish, they come in at over £1k per corner.
We would say “watch those kerbs!” but this Taycan also has 360-degree ‘surround view’ cameras to aid parking, Power Steering Plus that reduces steering effort at low speeds, and there’s even a Remote Park Assist system, which can be controlled via your smartphone.
The interior, dare we say it, is even more special than the outside. The two-tone colour scheme uses Crayon and Black hues (to match the exterior) and the driver and front passenger sit in 18-way electrically adjustable, heated, front sports seats. Yet whichever of the five seats you sit in, a fixed panoramic roof floods the cabin with light.
There’s technology befitting the cutting-edge status of this Porsche EV, too, including a 16.8-inch curved – and configurable – digital driver display, a 10.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and a 8.4-inch climate control touchscreen.
Other luxuries include a 710-watt BOSE® Surround Sound system with 14 speakers, keyless entry, contactless opening of the rear hatch by foot gesture, and a heated steering wheel with driving mode selector dial.
