REDISTRIBUTING SURPLUS FOOD TO VULNERABLE PEOPLE

Nearly 10 million people in the UK are currently experiencing food insecurity. This includes almost 3 million children who don’t have sufficient access to nutritious food.

And yet, 4.6 million tonnes of edible food goes to waste each year before it reaches people’s plates. That’s the equivalent of 10 billion meals worth of good to eat food.

Every entry into the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Cornwall, helps to support FareShare to make sure no good food goes to waste, and fewer people go hungry.

So, thank you!

A Word From FareShare

“We are hugely grateful to Omaze for supporting FareShare’s mission to get good to eat food to people who need it, rather than letting it go to waste.

Right now, in the UK, nearly 10 million people are experiencing food insecurity, uncertain about where their next meal may come from. At a time when so much food is going to waste, FareShare’s work is more critical than ever.

Thanks to Omaze, we will be able to rescue more surplus food and turn it into support, helping people thrive, strengthening communities, and creating lasting change across the UK, one nourishing meal at a time.”

“I’m chuffed to be supporting FareShare as part of this Omaze campaign.

Food waste has bothered me ever since I was a kid—there’s tonnes of it and there are people who desperately need it. So it can either be redistributed or thrown in the bin… it’s a bit of a no-brainer. I've been a volunteer driver for FareShare’s network partner, The Felix Project, since the pandemic and I really enjoy my shifts where I get to drive around London helping people.

By entering the Cornwall House Draw, you’ll be helping to fight food waste and feed people, what’s not to love?”
