Every day in the UK six people are diagnosed with motor neurone disease—a terminal, neurological condition which leaves people unable to speak, eat or even breathe.

More than 5,000 people in the UK are affected at any one time and, at present, there are no effective treatments—there is no cure.

The money you raised by entering the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Sussex, will help support the MND Association’s Research Nurse Network.

This raise could fund 24 Research Nurses for 28 months, ensuring sustained, research-led care for thousands affected by MND.

So, thank you!

A Word From the MND Association

“This incredible amount represents a beacon of hope for the MND community.

Since our partnership with Omaze began more than 300 people will have been told they have MND and that there’s no treatment or cure.

Your generosity will change that - it will help us rewrite what it means to be diagnosed with MND.

Through the development of our Research Nurse Network many more people will be empowered to access cutting edge clinical trials, paving the way for the breakthrough we’re impatient to see.

To everyone involved and who took part—thank you."

"Ten years ago I became patron of the MND Association having learnt about the devastation of motor neurone disease while researching and filming the Theory of Everything. I was struck by the brutality of MND, and how it robs so many people of a future with their families in the cruellest of ways.

Every day in the UK, six people are diagnosed with MND and six people die from it. As the biggest charitable funder of MND research in the UK, the MND Association is working tirelessly to change this, investing in research to take us closer to effective treatments and a cure.

This exciting partnership will further the MND Association’s vital work while shining a spotlight on MND, and the needs of those affected by it."
