Tech Hamper Winner

Rose C. from Blackpool is the winner of our spectacular Tech Hamper packed full of luxury gadgets and appliances worth £10,000. We caught up with Rose to find out how it feels to win big.

How do you feel about winning the £10k Tech Hamper?

I’m so shocked. I thought you were going to say I’d won £50. The most I’ve ever won is a bottle of champagne in a raffle. I don’t believe it. This just doesn't happen to people like me. This is just unreal. To know that these presents are going to be coming is beyond comprehension… it’s beyond anything I could ever dream of.

What tempted you to enter the Omaze Million Pound House Draw?

I entered the draw in memory of my friend, Gary, who died of a heart attack on Christmas eve, 2014*. He’d been here and had a meal with us the week before. He was a very fit and active lad. He did a lot of road cycling. He did a lot of triathlons for charity. He was at the gym here in Blackpool and suddenly he had a heart attack and passed away. We were devastated. He was one of my best friends. I’d been through a lot and he helped me. I’m a breast cancer survivor myself. He was so good to my two boys. Being a single parent it was great to have him as a father figure in our lives. There was someone there that I could trust. So, it was a huge loss.

*Rose was given permission to tell Gary's story by his family.

What would you do if you won the house?

If I was lucky enough to win the Grand Prize, I’d sell it and a lot of that money would go to charity. I’m not that well off but I’ve given to the BHF a lot.

So, what are you going to do with your prize?

I was struggling thinking about what I was going to get my family for Christmas. Now I have presents for all of them. This is unbelievable. I can’t believe it. God must be watching over us.
