Richard B. Wins £1,000

Richard B. from Somerset is this week’s winner of our £1,000 Weekly Cash Draw. We caught up with Richard to find out how it feels to win.

So, how do you feel about winning £1,000 in cash?

Hey! That’s fantastic! I couldn’t believe it when I received the email. It’s amazing. I’ve bought tickets to similar events in the past but it’s the first time I’ve actually won something. For me, being able to win something while supporting such a fantastic cause is great.

How did you hear about the Omaze Million Pound House Draw?

I saw it on Facebook. I looked into it, saw the draw and thought I’d like to enter, so I did. It’s as simple as that really.

What tempted you to enter?

I didn’t enter to win anything, it’s just to support the cause. I entered to support Teenage Cancer Trust. For me, there are so many charities out there but Teenage Cancer Trust is a really worthwhile cause. It helps real families with real issues.

Had you heard about Teenage Cancer Trust before you entered?

I’ve been following Teenage Cancer Trust for about ten years. I led a track day for Clic Sargent raising money for them and we invited some of the children over and did some track activities with them. I got to speak to a few of the children that were going through the process and the cause just captivated me. All those years ago, I remember talking to an 11-year-old- lad who’d been given months left to live and had survived over 18-months past that period of time. When you hear an 11-year old tell you that story, it’s very impactful. That was when I started on the journey of supporting charities like Teenage Cancer Trust. I haven’t been directly impacted but I have seen the impact on people around me. It’s so important that we support that.

So, how are you going to spend the £1,000?

We’ve been following the Montessori teaching method for our daughter. She’s coming up to a year old. We want to buy some more play equipment for her because she’s developing really quickly and outgrowing everything so quickly. Beyond that, we’ll be going on a staycation somewhere. We were due to have a holiday the weekend of lockdown which didn’t happen, so it will be nice to have a weekend away.

Obviously, you’re still in to win the house. What would you do if you won?

I would live in it. I love the area of Cheadle Hulme. We've visited there a few times and I’ve always wanted to live in the area but it’s so hard to afford to buy a property. I’d love to be able to live in Cheshire, it’s a beautiful part of the world. If we won, we’d move in and live there quite happily.

Our fingers are crossed for you. Congratulations, Richard!
