A Grandmother won her dream house in the Cotswolds after buying a £10 ticket to support the RSPCA hours before the Cotswolds House Draw closed - and then refused to believe it was true!
When we revealed to Susan Havenhand, who lives in Somerset, that she’d won the £3,500,000 luxury Cotswolds home her husband, John, assured her it was a fake call and headed to the pub instead.
Susan said: “When we first got the call from Omaze to say we’d won, my husband was convinced it was an elaborate hoax, in fact he was so sure he told me to hang up and come to the local bar with him instead!”.

It was only once her daughter, Harriet, came on board that we were able to convince Susan she really was the new owner of a six bedroom house set in over two acres of private gardens and woodland in the cultural heart of the Cotswolds!
“I left it for an hour or so, but once I spoke with our daughter who was at home with all the film crew, I finally realised this is actually genuine! I was absolutely stunned. I went straight to the bar to celebrate with John, who still couldn’t quite believe it. We bought everyone there drinks all night.” said Susan.
The stunning house, which has a heated pool, tennis courts, sauna, gym and cinema raised an incredible £1,000,000 for the RSCPA, the world’s oldest animal welfare charity. Susan is a long-term supporter of the charity. Susan worked as a secondary school teacher for 38 years before retiring, and she and her husband of 43 years, John, a retired Senior Manager in a college, have three daughters and ten young grandchildren.
Susan added: “We thought people never actually win these things, and even though we’re at the house now, it still feels like we’re dreaming, we keep waiting to wake up! It just goes to show you’ve got to be in it to win it!"
The house comes fully-furnished, mortgage free and all stamp duty and legal fees are covered. We've also given Susan £50,000 cash to help her settle in and, like all our winners, she is free to move into the house, rent it out or sell it.
